Covid Vaccination Programme
Covid Vaccination Programme
We have had lots of patients asking us about the roll out of the vaccination programme for Covid-19.
This has just begun to be rolled out nationally and the first of our patients in the most vulnerable groups have started to be invited. At present this has been limited to patients in cohorts 1 & 2 - patients in residential care, patients 80 and over and frontline care workers. Due to the small numbers of vaccine being made available each week this is currently being done on an appointment system and patients are being contacted directly. If you have not heard yet and feel that you should have been informed, please do not worry; there is no need to call the surgery - we will be contacting you!
We are hopeful as the national vaccination program gets scaled up when there is more vaccine available that this is a service that we will eventually be able to offer more locally within the surgery - we will keep you all posted!
As of December 2020 we understand from the latest government guidance that the priority order for vaccinating patients is as follows.
-
Cohort 1: Residents in a care home for older adults and their carers
-
Cohort 2: 80 + years of age and over and frontline health/social care workers
-
Cohort 3: 75 years of age and over
-
Cohort 4: 70 years of age and over and clinically extremely vulnerable individuals
-
Cohort 5: 65 years of age and over
-
Cohort 6: Individuals aged 16 years to 64 years with underlying health conditions which put them at higher risk of serious disease and mortality
-
Cohort 7: 60 years of age and over
-
Cohort 8: 55 years of age and over
-
Cohort 9: 50 years of age and over
